Directed the movie “Exploring the origin of the heavy elements in the universe”

Directed a movie for Monthly JICFuS titled “Exploring the origin of the heavy elements in the universe“.

This time, we featured a researcher Shinya Nishimura. In order to investigate the origin of the elements in the Universe, Nishimura is developing a computer simulation of the creation of elements (simulation of elemental formation). Among these, he is particularly interested in the origin of elements heavier than iron (heavy elements).

“Monthly JICFuS” is a web magazine published by JICFuS (Joint Institute for Computational Fundamental Science), a research organisation jointly established by the University of Tsukuba’s Research Centre for Computational Science, the High Energy Accelerator Research Organisation and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan.

スーパーコンピュータを用いた研究者の姿に迫る「月刊JICFuS」ムービーを制作・演出しました。今回登場するのは、京都大学基礎物理学研究所の西村信哉さんです。西村さんは、宇宙における元素の起源を探るため、コンピュータの中で元素を作る（元素生成のシミュレート）というシミュレーションを展開しています。その中でもとくに、鉄よりも重い元素（重元素）の起源についての研究をすすめています。
