Movie of Taro Morimoto exhibition “neutral tones”

Taro Morimoto is producing paintings in a unique way. In this exhibition, he created a group of works inspired by Minami Aoyama district, where the gallery is located. Morimoto says in interview “I want to create a work that goes back and forth between concrete and abstract”. He drew a wide variety of motifs, such as Prada Aoyama which was designed by Herzog & de Meuron, and magazine struck by the roadside. In addition, as the first attempt this time, a video installation work “rotation – M” was also released, which allows you to relive Morimoto’s painting site with the production tools and images of the studio. 森本太郎は他に類を見ない手法で絵画を制作し続けている作家です。今回の展覧会では、会場となった南青山界隈を歩き、そこからモチーフを得た作品群が展示されました。「具象と抽象の間を行き来するような作品を作っていきたい」という森本によって描かれたのは、青山のアイコンになっているヘルツォーク&ド・ムーロンの手になるプラダ青山ビルや、路傍にうちすてられた雑誌であったりと、多岐にわたるものとなりました。また、今回は初の試みとして、映像と実際にアトリエで使用されている制作道具を組み合わせて、森本の制作現場を追体験する映像作品「ローテーションM」も公開されました。その展覧会の様子をどうぞお楽しみください。
